CRC Sikkim Successfully Organizes First Online Hindi Workshop on “Hindi Noting & Drafting and Compliance with the Annual Programme”

The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Sikkim for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, functioning under the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata, organized a comprehensive online Hindi workshop on 15th July 2026 in accordance with the directives of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The workshop was conducted on the theme “Hindi Noting & Drafting and Compliance with the Annual Programme.”

The workshop witnessed the participation of approximately 50 officers and officials from various Central and State Government departments and offices across Sikkim. Participating organizations included the Office of the Accountant General (AG), Sikkim; Department of Posts; All India Radio, Gangtok; Sikkim University; National Informatics Centre (NIC), Gangtok; Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gangtok; Spices Board; Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR); Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME); Press Information Bureau, Gangtok and the State Education Department, Sikkim, among several other prominent institutions.

The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Pushpanjali Gupta, Director, CRC Sikkim. In her inaugural address, she expressed her gratitude to Dr. Lalit Narayan, Director, National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata, for his constant guidance and support. She highlighted that under his leadership, CRC Sikkim has been continuously working for the rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities from its campus at Assam Lingzey, Pakyong District, for the past six years.

The keynote speaker for the workshop was Shri Rajesh Kumar Meena, Senior Translation Officer, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi.

The workshop was significant as it marked the first large-scale online Hindi workshop of its kind in Northeast India on the subject of “Hindi Noting & Drafting and Compliance with the Annual Programme.” During his session, Shri Meena delivered a comprehensive and practical presentation on the topic and trained officers and staff of CRC Sikkim as well as officials from various Central and State Government departments and offices across Sikkim.

In his lecture, Shri Meena provided detailed guidance on the correct methods of Hindi noting and drafting. He emphasized the effective implementation of the targets prescribed under the Official Language Annual Programme. He also explained the procedures followed during inspections conducted by the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language and provided detailed information about the records and documents required to be displayed during such inspections.

The interactive session concluded with participants raising several questions related to the subject, all of which were addressed by Shri Meena in a clear, practical and easy-to-understand manner. Participants appreciated the workshop as highly informative, practical and beneficial for strengthening the implementation of the Official Language policy in their respective offices.

This initiative is regarded as a significant milestone in promoting the use of Hindi as the Official Language and strengthening the implementation of the Official Language Policy. The successful organization of this workshop reflects CRC Sikkim’s commitment to promoting the Official Language and enhancing administrative efficiency through capacity building.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pushpanjali Gupta, Director, CRC Sikkim, who expressed her sincere appreciation to the keynote speaker, Shri Rajesh Kumar Meena, and all the participants representing various Central and State Government departments and offices in Sikkim. The workshop ended on a successful and positive note.
