Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Yuva Connect program by National Service Scheme in Puducherry

The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Pondicherry University successfully organised the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Yuva Connect” programme under the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The event aimed to raise students’ awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and to encourage healthy, addiction-free lifestyles.

  

The programme began with an invocation, followed by Vande Mataram and the University anthem. Prof. C. Satheesh Kumar, NSS Programme Coordinator, delivered the welcome address and highlighted NSS’s role in shaping socially responsible youth. Mr. C.S. Raju, District Youth Officer, presented an overview of the Abhiyaan’s core objectives and activities. Youth icon Mr. Aditya Kumar Singh motivated the audience to prioritise discipline and goal-oriented living.

In his presidential address, Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, emphasised that a developed India (Viksit Bharat) depends on the energy and sense of responsibility of its youth. Prof. R. Nalini and Dr. Ifthekar Alam delivered informative sessions on the physical, psychological, and socioeconomic impacts of drug abuse. Mr. Sianthosh Thiruvarasan of the Heartfulness Meditation Centre conducted a session on mental well-being and meditation.

An engaging interaction with volunteers followed, after which NSS volunteer Ms. Fathima Rishba K proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The event successfully empowered students to act as ambassadors of change and reinforced the collective commitment to building a drug-free and progressive nation.
