CBC Senapati Organizes Outreach Program on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Senapati, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, organized a one-day Special Outreach Programme (SOP) on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (NMBA) at Lao Radiant Hr. Sec. School, Senapati, today. The event was held under the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan-Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan” (A Drug-Free India Campaign is the Identity of a Developed Nation).

The program featured Principal K.H. Silas as the Chief Guest, Headmaster C.T. Jonathan as the Guest of Honour, and K.S. Mavei as the Resource Person. Lecturers Mr. Bishorjit, Mr. Hrakhu, and Mr. Vismas attended as Special Guests, while Zhouveine moderated the event.

Delivering the welcome address, A. Sankhil George, Field Publicity Assistant, CBC FO Senapati, highlighted the bureau's mandate and emphasized the critical need for awareness initiatives targeting youth.

In his address, Chief Guest Principal K.H. Silas warned of the devastating impacts of drug abuse and urged students to stay informed and avoid harmful substances. He highlighted the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, and government agencies in curbing substance abuse, calling youth the "future pillars of the district, state, and nation." Guest of Honour Headmaster C.T. Jonathan similarly cautioned students against tobacco and illegal substances, reinforcing the message that public health is essential to national development.

Resource Person K.S. Mavei outlined the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan—launched on August 15, 2020, by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment—focusing on public awareness, community outreach, and rehabilitation. Noting India’s vulnerability to illegal drug trafficking routes, Mavei urged students to value their lives, practice self-control, and actively contribute to a healthier, drug-free society.

The event concluded with an anti-drug pledge taken by all participants, followed by a spot quiz competition where winners were awarded prizes and certificates.
