Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will virtually address youth from across the country on 2nd August 2026 under the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', a nationwide initiative of MY Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aimed at mobilising young people against substance abuse and promoting a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle.

The programme forms part of the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' campaign, launched to encourage youth-led action against drug addiction through awareness, community participation, sports, culture and positive social engagement. The campaign aligns with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat@2047.

The virtual interaction is expected to connect around 10,000 locations across the country, bringing together more than one crore youth, including MY Bharat volunteers, MY Bharat-NSS volunteers, Youth Clubs, students from schools, colleges and universities, representatives of NGOs, youth wings of industrial associations and members of over 125 partner organisations.

In Karnataka, Bengaluru Rural and Bidar have been identified as the prime locations for the programme, where large-scale youth gatherings will mark the occasion. Alongside these, the programme will also be organised at all other identified locations across the State, including Belgaum, Gulbarga, Hassan, Karwar, Kolar, Mangalore, Mandya, Mysore, Raichur, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Shimoga, Bagalkot, Davanagere and Koppal, coordinated by the respective District Youth Officers, ensuring wide participation of MY Bharat volunteers, MY Bharat-NSS volunteers, Youth Clubs, educational institutions and civil society organisations across the State.

During the programme, youth across the country will collectively take the Nasha Mukti Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to remain free from substance abuse and to inspire others to join the movement. The event will also mark the launch of a nationwide 100-week Sunday engagement programme under which cultural, sports, fitness, awareness, mindfulness and community outreach activities will be organised regularly to sustain youth participation in the campaign.

During the programme, youth across the country will collectively take the Nasha Mukti Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to remain free from substance abuse and to inspire others to join the movement. As part of the programme, participating locations across Karnataka will organise a range of activities, including walkathons, sports and fitness events, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness campaigns and street plays, to promote the message of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and encourage a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among youth. The e-Pledge campaign is currently underway on the MY Bharat Portal, enabling citizens, particularly youth, to reaffirm their commitment towards building a drug-free India.

The campaign also includes district-level competitions in categories such as folk songs, mime acts, short films/reels, painting, debate and slogan writing, with winners advancing to State-level competitions. It will culminate in the National Nasha Mukti Youth Conclave, proposed to be held in New Delhi on 14th August 2026, where outstanding performers from across the country will be recognised for their contribution towards spreading awareness against substance abuse.
