The Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed the Rajya Sabha today that on 15th November 2023, Hon’ble Prime Minister launched Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN). Hon'ble Prime Minister launched Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JGUA) on 2nd October, 2024. Ministry of Tribal Affairs has carried out an orientation programme on schemes of MoTA including PM JANMAN and DA JGUA for Officers of State Governments to facilitate formulation of proposals and progress thereon. During the current financial year, Ministry has also approved projects amounting to Rs.12574.70 lakhs in State of West Bengal for MoTA components under DA JGUA.

Three PVTGs namely Birhor, Lodha and Toto have been identified in West Bengal. Based on the data captured during habitation level data collection exercise carried by the State Government through PM Gati Shakti mobile application to estimate PVTG population figures and infrastructure gaps, the details of number of PVTG habitations identified (tentative) and PVTG population in the State of West Bengal is tabulated below:

State Government had not submitted any proposals for MPCs to Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The records of the funds utilised for interventions to be carried out by other Ministries/Departments are maintained by concerned Ministries / Departments.

PVTG household survey is being carried out by State of West Bengal and State Government has surveyed 18173 PVTG households. The State Government is required to examine the data captured and take appropriate action in consultation with line Departments to address the gaps identified in terms of schemes norms and eligibility criteria.
