The 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi was held today at the Institute campus in the presence of  Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated the graduating students and highlighted the importance of innovation, research, and emerging technologies in shaping India’s growth trajectory.

The Prime Minister noted that India was entering new frontiers and looked to its youth with great responsibility and expectations, emphasising sectors such as artificial intelligence, data centres, critical minerals, deep-sea exploration, and quantum computing as key to the nation’s future. He encouraged the youth to contribute towards nation-building and leverage opportunities in these cutting-edge domains.

 

Addressing the 57th Convocation Ceremony, Union Minister for Education, Shri Pralhad Joshi stated that India’s education ecosystem had become “learner-centric, research-driven, and future-ready”, asserting that the country’s youth were no longer merely competing with the world but were leading it. Shri Joshi further highlighted that the Prime Minister had always reposed immense faith in the potential of India’s youth and regarded them as the “foremost architects of Viksit Bharat 2047”.

The Prime Minister presented prestigious awards, including the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and Perfect Ten Medals, to meritorious students. On the occasion, he also inaugurated the “Param Pragya” AI-based high-performance supercomputing and project cluster facility at IIT Delhi, marking a significant step towards strengthening advanced research infrastructure in the country.
