The Central Government has approved Urban Flood Risk Management Programme (UFRMP) Phase-I in seven (07) cities viz. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune at a total financial outlay of Rs. 3075.65 crore and has also approved UFRMP Phase-II in eleven (11) cities viz. Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kanpur, Patna, Raipur, Trivandrum, Vishakhapatnam, Indore and Lucknow at a total financial outlay of Rs. 2444.42 crore for financial assistance under National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF). The State-wise details of fund allocated and released under UFRMP Phase-I and UFRMP Phase-II are at Annexure.
The projects approved by the Central Government under UFRMP are being implemented by the concerned State Governments. The approved projects for all 07 cities under UFRMP Phase-I and for Guwahati under UFRMP Phase-II are at various stages of implementation. The projects being implemented under UFRMP are expected to significantly improve stormwater conveyance, reduce flooding and waterlogging, enhance road connectivity, and increase the resilience of the drainage network in the cities. However, a final city-wise assessment of outcome can be undertaken after adequate implementation. To review the progress of implementation of projects under UFRMP and to ensure timely completion of the projects, periodic meetings are held at Ministry of Home Affairs and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). NDMA has also prepared a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for UFRMP and has circulated the same to participating cities for adoption and reporting.
