Indian Railways Approves Construction of 4 Lane ROB at Geratpur-Ahmedabad Section in Gujarat at ₹153 Crore

Posted On: 12 AUG 2026 4:30PM by PIB Delhi

In a major step towards safer and smoother movement of road traffic in Gujarat, Indian Railways has approved the construction of a 4 lane Road Over Bridge at Level Crossing No. 305 on the Geratpur-Ahmedabad section of Western Railway. The work has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹153 crore.

The project has been sanctioned under Western Railway's ongoing umbrella work for construction of road over and under bridges, foot over bridges, drainage improvement and rebuilding of road over and under bridges.

The crossing lies in a densely populated urban area, which calls for longer approaches and a larger structure. The railway bridge portion will have a total length of 106 metres. It will comprise two composite girders of 53 metres each. A viaduct of 150 metres will follow. The railway approach will extend to 595 metres.

Safer and Faster Movement for Commuters

The new Road Over Bridge will remove the need for road users to wait at the level crossing. It will allow uninterrupted movement of vehicles across the railway line at all hours. Road users in the area will gain safer passage, shorter travel time and relief from congestion at the crossing.

The approval reflects Indian Railways' continued commitment towards elimination of level crossings, improved public safety and creation of modern and efficient transport infrastructure across the country.
