‘विज्ञान Tech’, a first of its kind national initiative was organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), on National Technology Day, 11 May 2026 at BRIC-National Institute of Immunology (BRIC-NII), N. Delhi. The purpose was to promote a whole-of- Government approach for science, technology and innovation.
The exhibition brought together the technological strengths of 14 Ministries and Departments of the Government of India with strong R&D linkages through their autonomous institutes and laboratories and more than 100 in-house developed technologies were showcased. Based on a “Whole-of-Government” approach, technologies were showcased across key sectors such as Space and Geospatial Technologies; Climate and Agri-Food Technologies; Biopharma and Health Technologies; Bioindustrial and Green Chemicals; Deep-tech Materials and Advanced Engineering Technologies; Electronics, Semiconductors and Energy; and Deep-Sea and Atmospheric Technologies. The event also saw the release of ‘TECH-संग्रह’, a compendium featuring nearly 300 technologies developed by the participating institutions. Many of these technologies have already been commercialized or licensed, while others are progressing toward deployment to support national development goals.
The event witnessed several technology transfers/licensing of technologies to industry. The details are as follows:
DBT- Biotechnology Research & Innovation Council (DBT-BRIC)
- Accelerated Crop Innovation Technology platform
- Active dried yeast technology
- Enzyme for optimised lignocellulosic degradation technology
- CleverCUP
- NCE for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Indian Council For Medical Research (ICMR)
- Factor VIII Inhibitor Test for Haemophilia A Disorder
- PSP94 ELISA
- Multiplex Real-Time RT-PCR for Detection of Dengue Chikungunya and Zika Viruses
Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)
- CSIR PRIMA ET-11, 100% electric compact tractor
Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI)
- Extruded Products technology
- Hybrid Green House Solar dryer
- Protein & Fiber rich Granola Bar
The following were also launched during the event:
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
- Indigenous Glacier Lake Bathymetry Survey Solution developed by C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram
Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)
- CSIR@100, a booklet outlining CSIR’s roadmap towards 2042 with a strong focus on deep-tech innovation, translational research, and technologies aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The initiative served as a common strategic platform for knowledge exchange, technology showcasing and exploring opportunities to bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial application. By bringing together various Ministries, policymakers, scientists, young researchers, industry leaders, and startup founders, the initiative strengthened connections across the innovation ecosystem and provided valuable insights into new opportunities for collaboration and innovation. This is a significant step towards breaking institutional silos as we embark on our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
This information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology & Ministry of Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
