The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 brought together the leadership of Uttar Pradesh, representatives from the Government of Japan, Japanese industry leaders, academia and other stakeholders to strengthen the growing economic partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.

At the event, the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), enabled real-time multilingual communication through Shrutlekh, demonstrating the use of Language AI in a high-level international engagement.

The address delivered by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, in Hindi was translated and transcribed into Japanese in real time through Shrutlekh. The technology was also deployed during the address of Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, enabling his English speech to be translated into Japanese in real time.

Shrutlekh performed successfully during the event, supporting two-way communication between English/Hindi and Japanese. Its performance and potential to enable seamless multilingual interaction were appreciated by the CEO of Invest UP and other participants.

The deployment comes at a time when Uttar Pradesh and Japan are deepening collaboration across manufacturing, advanced technology, clean energy, innovation, skilling, tourism and human resource development. With Japanese investments and partnerships expanding in Uttar Pradesh, multilingual technology can play an important role in facilitating communication between governments, businesses and institutions.

The deployment at the UP-Japan Investment Meet highlights the potential of Language AI to make global engagement more inclusive and seamless. As India’s economic and strategic partnerships expand across borders, BHASHINI is enabling people, governments and businesses to communicate across languages in real time, helping ensure that language does not stand in the way of investment, collaboration and shared opportunities.
