The first meeting of the newly re-constituted Commission held today under the chairmanship of Shri Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairman, NCM.

The meeting was attended by Ms. S. Munawari Begum, Vice Chairperson; Shri Berjis Desai, Member, and Shri Glenn E Souza Ticlo, Member. Shri Suchindra Misra, Secretary NCM and Dr. Atya Nand, Joint Secretary NCM were also present in the meeting along with other officers of the Commission.

During the meeting, the Commission reviewed matters pertaining to the welfare and interests of the minority communities and deliberated upon issues placed before it for consideration. The Members exchanged views on the ongoing activities of the Commission and discussed the way forward on pending matters.

The Chairperson emphasized the Commission’s mandate to work for the development of minorities and to monitor the working of safeguards for protection of their interests.
