VARTA held on 12 Years of Governance on Youth Empowerment and Employment Generation

Youth Empowerment Vital for Achieving Viksit Bharat 2047, Says H. Dolianbuaia, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib District, Mizoram

 

A one-day media workshop “VARTA” on the theme “12 Years of Governance on Youth Empowerment and Employment Generation”, organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Aizawl, was held today at the DIPRO Conference Hall, Kolasib.

Shri H. Dolianbuaia, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib District, attended the workshop as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he said that youth empowerment and employment generation are crucial to achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

He said the Government of India has been implementing various initiatives and schemes to create better opportunities for the youth. Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted initiatives such as Nehru Yuva Kendra and Young Parliament programmes, which help young people understand the functioning of democracy and governance. He also underlined the importance of skill development initiatives and various measures being undertaken by the Government to create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of young people.

Shri Dolianbuaia stressed the need for youth to stay away from drugs, describing substance abuse as a major impediment to development. He said that anti-drug campaigns are being carried out in Aizawl, Champhai and Kolasib, and called for collective efforts from all sections of society to make the campaign successful.

Shri C. Zomuanpuia, President, Mizoram Journalist Association, Kolasib District, who attended the programme as Guest of Honour, said that cooperation between the media and the Government is important for effectively disseminating information about government initiatives to the public. He urged media organisations and government agencies to continue working together to create better opportunities for the youth and promote development.

As part of the workshop, technical sessions and discussions were conducted on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). Shri David A. Lalmingchhuana, District Resource Person, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, spoke on the objectives and activities of the campaign, while Shri Hnamhlunchhunga, Chief Executive Officer, Mizoram Khadi & Village Industries Board, delivered a presentation on PMEGP and its role in promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship.


 

In his keynote address, Dr. Rajeev Lourembam, Media & Communication Officer, PIB Aizawl, highlighted the overarching theme of 12 Years of Governance “Vishwas Ke, Vikas Ke, Jan-Kalyan Ke.” He said that the Government of India has set the goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, with youth empowerment and employment generation among the key areas of focus.

Dr. Lourembam also emphasised the important role of the media in strengthening governance and disseminating information about various government schemes and development initiatives to the people. He urged media persons to play an active role in creating awareness about opportunities and programmes available for the youth.

The workshop was attended by journalists and media persons from Kolasib district, officials from All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, Mizoram, students from DIET Kolasib, and senior government officials.

The VARTA workshop provided a platform for interaction between government officials, media professionals, resource persons and students, with discussions focusing on drug free society for empowering youth, employment generation, skill development, entrepreneurship and the collective role of stakeholders in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
