The Office of the Principal Controller of Communication Accounts (Pr. CCA), Mumbai, under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, celebrated National Senior Citizens’ Day today, at the CTO Building, Fort, Mumbai.

The programme was organised to honour the valuable contribution of pensioners of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and MTNL to the growth and development of India’s telecommunications sector.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Controller of Communication Accounts, Mumbai, Smt. Kalpana Singh, reiterated the commitment of the Pr. CCA Mumbai office towards providing efficient, transparent, accessible and pensioner-friendly services. She highlighted digital initiatives available to pensioners, including SAMPANN (System for Accounting and Management of Pension), DigiLocker, UMANG, CPGRAMS, e-PPO and Jeevan Pramaan. She emphasised the office’s continuing efforts to use digital platforms to simplify pension-related processes, facilitate timely grievance redressal and improve access to essential services.

Controller of Communication Accounts, Mumbai, Shri Narendra S. Dhaktode, in his inaugural address, highlighted the importance of recognising the invaluable contribution of senior citizens and retired employees to public service.

As part of the programme, a series of informative and welfare-oriented sessions focusing on digital inclusion, cyber security, health awareness and ease of access to pension services were organised.

Recognising the growing vulnerability of senior citizens to online scams and financial fraud, experts from the Cyber Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, conducted a dedicated cyber-security awareness session. The pensioners were sensitised about various forms of online and financial fraud, emerging cyber threats and precautionary measures for the safe and secure use of digital and banking services.

The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) team also conducted a dedicated awareness session on the Doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) facility. The session familiarised pensioners with the convenient process of submitting their Life Certificate from the comfort of their homes.

A free health camp was organised in association with Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai, providing medical consultations, health check-ups and various health screenings to pensioners attending the programme.

Through these initiatives, the Pr. CCA Mumbai office sought to bring important pension, digital, health and security-related services onto a common platform for the benefit of senior citizen pensioners.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Deputy Controller Ms Kirdak Neha Laxman.
