The Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Security Training Centre, Indora, Nagpur, conducted its Convocation Ceremony and Passing Out Parade on August 31, 2026, marking the successful completion of training by officers and departmental security personnel from various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. Nagpur Police Commissioner Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil, IPS, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event showcased the discipline, dedication and professional preparedness of the newly trained security personnel.

The Chief Guest inspected the parade and appreciated the high standards of discipline and professional competence displayed by the trainees. Addressing the gathering, Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil emphasised that industrial security is an important pillar of the country’s economic and energy security. He stressed the need for security personnel to perform their duties with vigilance, integrity and discipline while making effective use of modern technology. Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL, said that trained and skilled security personnel play a vital role in safeguarding industrial establishments. He highlighted WCL’s efforts to strengthen its security systems through modern technology, vigilance and continuous training, and congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the programme.

Trainees who excelled during the training were felicitated with certificates of merit and awards for their outstanding performance. The ceremony was attended by Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance/HR), WCL; Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, Chief Vigilance Officer; Lieutenant Commander (Dr.) Vikrant Malhan, Head of Security Department (Security); senior officers, employees, instructors and trainees of the Security Training Centre.

Following the ceremony, Police Commissioner Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil visited SHASTrA, the Smart and Modern Arms Training/Firing Simulation Facility at the Security Training Centre. He was briefed on the technology-enabled training system and its role in enhancing the skills and operational preparedness of security personnel. The initiative reflects WCL’s continued focus on professional training and modernisation of its security apparatus.
