Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Panchayati Raj, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, visited the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) today. Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri S. Selvaganabathy was also present on the occasion.

Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director, JIPMER, presented an overview of the institute's academic achievements, healthcare services, and major infrastructure. Additionally, Dr. D. Kadambari, Dean (Research), briefed the Minister on JIPMER's translational research, innovation, and Central Animal House facilities. During his interaction with senior faculty, Prof. Baghel commended the healthcare professionals for their dedication and emphasized that compassion must form the core of medical practice, extending empathy and ethical care toward all living beings, including animals.

As part of the itinerary, the Minister toured the Central Animal House Facility at CRIE to inspect its role in supporting biomedical research. The visit highlighted JIPMER’s integrated ecosystem combining patient care, advanced medical education, and ethical scientific innovation in alignment with national priorities.
