The General Services Organisation (GSO), under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), celebrated its 49th Foundation Day today with official events across Kalpakkam and Anupuram.

The celebrations commenced with Shri Sreekumar G. Pillai, Director, IGCAR and GSO, inaugurating the newly constructed sports facility at Anupuram, named the "Mamallan Sports Complex" in honor of Pallava King Narasimhavarman I. Marking the occasion, several GSO facilities were renamed to reflect cultural heritage and historical contributions: the GSO Annex Building was named the "Dr. Homi Sethna Building" after the former AEC Chairman, the DAE Guest House as "Vishwakarma," the Senior Hostel as "Pallava," the Junior Hostel as "Ekalavya," and the Ladies Hostel as "Bharathi."

During the technical session at Kalpakkam, Shri K. R. Sethu Raman, Director (P&A), welcomed delegates and outlined GSO's journey since its inception in 1978. Delivering the Foundation Day address, Shri Sreekumar G. Pillai commended GSO’s uninterrupted municipal, medical, transport, and infrastructural support to DAE facilities like IGCAR and MAPS. A commemorative Coffee Table Book documenting five decades of GSO's services was released, followed by technical presentations from civil, electrical, mechanical, medical, and autoshop wings, and a cultural program by staff members.
