A Telangana media delegation, as part of the Gujarat media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Hyderabad, visited Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), Vadodara, and Amul Dairy, Anand, today.

At GSV, Prof. (Dr.) Jitesh J. Thakkar, Dean (Academics), briefed the delegation on the university’s academic programmes, industry partnerships and future plans. He said GSV plans to establish campuses across India, including in Telangana.Prof. Thakkar said GSV is a Central University under the Ministry of Railways and India’s first dedicated university for transport and logistics. He added that the university’s focus on transport and logistics education aligns with the broader vision of PM Gati Shakti, which seeks to promote integrated and coordinated planning of infrastructure and connectivity across the country.

Explaining the academic programmes, Prof. Thakkar said GSV covers key areas such as railways, roads, ports, aviation, urban transport and logistics. He said the programmes are designed in consultation with industry experts, with professionals from railways, metro companies, aviation and logistics sectors also sharing their expertise with students.Prof. Thakkar highlighted the university’s strong emphasis on practical learning. Students undergo compulsory internships of 13 to 14 weeks every year and undertake a 21-week final-year project with an industry partner, giving them nearly nine months of practical exposure.

GSV has recorded more than 92 per cent placements in recent years, while the latest B.Tech and MBA batches achieved 100 per cent placements. Recruiters include L&T, Jacobs, Siemens, Airbus, Alstom and Plasser India.

The university currently has around 1,300 students from 22 states and plans to increase its student strength to 5,000 over the next five years.

The delegation was also briefed on GSV’s work in urban mobility. The university is testing an adaptive traffic signal system at six junctions in Vadodara and plans to extend the model to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

At Amul Dairy in Anand, the delegation interacted with Dr. Amit Vyas, Managing Director, Amul, who spoke about the organisation’s growth and its efforts to expand the reach of Indian dairy products globally, describing Amul as a “Dairy to the World.”

Dr. Vyas highlighted Amul’s support to dairy farmers through veterinary services, vaccinations, cattle feed, milking machines and other assistance. These initiatives are aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods and returns.

The visits provided the Telangana media delegation with an understanding of key initiatives supported by the Central Government in areas such as transport and logistics education, industry-academia collaboration, urban mobility, infrastructure development and strengthening the dairy sector, including efforts aimed at improving opportunities and livelihoods for farmers.
