Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake an intensive one-day visit to Bihar on Wednesday, September 16, to assess the situation in flood-affected areas and review relief and rescue operations. During his visit, Shri Chouhan will conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas, visit affected locations to interact with farmers and the public, and chair a high-level meeting with senior officials in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary to review relief and rescue efforts. A team of senior officials from the Union Ministries of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development will accompany Shri Chouhan during the visit. In this hour of crisis, the Central Government, under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, stands firmly with the farmers and citizens of Bihar.

Aerial Survey to Begin Visit; Chouhan to Inspect Crop Damage in Fields

As per the scheduled program, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will travel from Bhopal to Patna. At 10:30 am, he will undertake an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Dighwara and Maner by helicopter from the Patna State Hangar. He will subsequently reach the Hajipur Police Lines helipad at 11 am, from where he will travel by road to Terasia and Saraipur villages. He will visit the fields to inspect crop damage caused by the floods and meet local farmers to hear their concerns and problems.

Disaster Review Meeting at Chief Minister’s Secretariat

After assessing the flood-affected areas, Shri Chouhan will travel via Gandhi Setu and reach ‘Samvad’, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Patna, at 12:15 pm. He will participate in an important review meeting with Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary and senior officials to assess flood disaster management, relief operations and assistance to affected farmers.

Relief Camps and Embankments in Munger and Bhagalpur to Be Inspected

At 1:30 pm, Shri Chouhan will depart from Patna and reach Nawabgarhi in Munger at around 2:15 pm. He will visit the relief camp at Nawabgarhi, meet flood-affected people personally and assess the quality of ongoing relief operations. He will then travel by road via Bhagalpur to inspect the Kojikaraiya embankment in Naugachhia. In the evening, Shri Chouhan will visit the relief camp at Bhagalpur Polytechnic College, where he will meet affected families taking shelter and enquire about their well-being. After an overnight stay at the Bhagalpur Government Circuit House, Shri Chouhan will meet flood-affected people again on the morning of September 17 before departing for Patna.
