West Bengal features prominently in the 8th PM Mementos e-Auction 2026, with 109 mementos representing a wide range of the State’s artistic, cultural, religious and heritage traditions. The collection includes traditional crafts, devotional artworks, representations of heritage sites, folk-art forms and commemorative mementos associated with notable personalities.

Among the prominent mementos featured in the West Bengal collection are:

 

 

 

Two mementos in the collection feature statues of Baba Lokenath, the renowned Indian spiritual leader and saint, revered for his teachings on spiritual enlightenment, yoga and devotion. One of the statues is made of ceramic, while the other is crafted in a different material.

 

Another memento features the face of Goddess Durga through Shola work, using Indian cork, a traditional material associated with West Bengal.

A memento highlights distinctive Monument of West Bengal woven in rattan cane showcases handwoven craftsmanship. The memento features intricate weave and natural texture, reflecting sustainable craftsmanship rooted in rural heritage.

This memento features a pair of hand-carved wooden Bankura Horses, representing the folk-art heritage of West Bengal. The sculptures is characterised by elongated necks, erect ears and geometric forms associated with the Panchmura artistic style.

A handcrafted Sholapith artwork depicting Maa Kali is also part of the collection. The piece features the goddess’s face, third eye and multi-tiered crown, with the ornamental elements carved from ivory-white Sholapith, a traditional material associated with Bengali heritage.

A hand-painted canvas depicting the historic Rasmancha monument in Bishnupur captures its distinctive pyramidal terracotta structure and arched galleries. The painting is signed by the artist Nibedita Nema.

The West Bengal collection further includes mementos associated with Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda and Satyajit Ray, along with representations of Madan Mohan Temple, Jalpesh Temple, Tarapith, Dakshineswar, Kalna’s heritage temples, Bankura’s folk traditions and Durga Puja craftsmanship.

Taken together, the 109 mementos offer a broad view of West Bengal through its devotional traditions, folk and craft practices, architectural heritage, literary and artistic legacy, and contemporary commemorative works.
