Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Culminates at SECL with Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations


Over 55 Cleanliness Target Units and 10 Lakh Sq. Ft. Cleaned Across SECL operational Areas in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh; Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6 Begins

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, marked the culmination of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 today with programmes organised on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti across its establishments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

During the campaign, held from 17 September to 2 October 2026, SECL undertook intensive cleanliness activities at more than 55 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) across its operational areas, covering over 10 lakh square feet of space.

The campaign also witnessed extensive awareness and community participation activities, including Nukkad Nataks, competitions in schools, Shramdaan activities and cleanliness awareness programmes. Employees, workers, students and local communities participated in various activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and encouraging behavioural change.

The culmination of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 also coincides with the commencement of the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6 . Following completion of the preparatory phase on 30 September 2026, the implementation phase began on 2 October and will continue till 31 October 2026. This year, the campaign lays special emphasis on effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.

*Special Campaign 6  Implementation Begins Across SECL*

SECL has identified 225 sites for cleanliness activities under Special Campaign 6 , with around 40 lakh square feet of area targeted for cleaning. The company has also set a target for disposal of 3,300 metric tonnes of scrap during the campaign.

In the area of records management, SECL will review 500 physical files and weed out 200 physical files, besides reviewing 7,000 e-files and closing 3,000 e-files.

Activities during the implementation phase will focus on cleanliness, optimum utilisation of space, scrap disposal, record management, reduction of pendency and effective e-waste management across SECL Headquarters and its operational areas.

The activities undertaken under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and the commencement of Special Campaign 6  reinforce SECL’s continued focus on cleanliness, community participation, efficient workplace management and responsible disposal of waste.
