The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has successfully completed the Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 6, with a comprehensive action plan in place for the Implementation Phase from 2 October to 31 October 2026. The Campaign, being undertaken by the Government with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) as the nodal Department, seeks to strengthen Swachhata, improve efficiency, ensure timely disposal of pending matters and promote better management of official resources.

During the Preparatory Phase, DST undertook a detailed assessment of pending VIP references, Public Grievances, Parliamentary Assurances and other matters requiring time-bound action. The exercise enabled the Department to identify priority areas and formulate targeted interventions for their expeditious disposal during the Implementation Phase.

The exercise was undertaken across DST and its extensive institutional network, including Subordinate Offices, Autonomous Institutions, T-Hubs, Missions and Laboratories. Various locations were identified for focused cleanliness and space-management activities, with emphasis on creating cleaner, more organised and productive workspaces.

A comprehensive review of physical and electronic records, office scrap and other materials requiring disposal was also carried out. The Department and its associated offices and institutions identified records for digitisation, obsolete documents for weeding out and opportunities for better utilisation of available office space. These measures are expected to contribute to improved workplace efficiency and more effective management of institutional resources.

A significant achievement during the Preparatory Phase has been the successful uploading of the requisite targets on the SCDPM 6 portal. DST, in coordination with its Autonomous Institutions and Subordinate Offices, has also finalised action plans covering cleanliness drives, disposal of pending matters, records management and freeing up of office space.

The Department has accorded special emphasis to the identification, segregation, disposal and management of e-Waste. Stakeholders across DST and its associated offices and institutions have been sensitised to ensure that e-Waste is appropriately identified and managed in accordance with applicable norms during the Implementation Phase.

Alongside these on-ground activities, DST has planned a series of awareness-generation and campaign-advocacy initiatives to amplify the objectives and achievements of Special Campaign 6. The campaign will be supported through multiple communication channels, including PIB releases and social media platforms, to encourage wider participation and reinforce the message of Swachhata and good governance.

With the Preparatory Phase now successfully completed, DST is geared up for the Implementation Phase, with coordinated action across its offices and institutions. The Campaign is expected to provide further impetus to the institutionalisation of Swachhata, efficiency, transparency, accountability and good governance, while fostering a cleaner, more organised and productive working environment.

Through Special Campaign 6, DST reaffirms its commitment to responsive governance, efficient public administration and sustained improvement in workplace practices, ensuring that the principles of Swachhata and good governance become an integral part of the Department’s institutional functioning.
