A vibrant journey of cultural exchange, learning and national integration began at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur today as the Institute organised the Flag-Off Ceremony for the Rajasthan Delegation of Yuva Sangam Phase 7, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The 50-member Rajasthan delegation, representing diverse districts of the State and accompanied by five officials, was flagged off by Prof. Bhabani Kumar Satapathy, Deputy Director, IIT Jodhpur and Dr. Rajlaxmi Chouhan, Dean, Student affairs. Extending his best wishes to the delegates, Prof. Satapathy encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity to discover, experience and share the rich cultural and developmental tapestry of the country.
The delegation is scheduled to embark on its journey to Sikkim in the early hours of 8 October 2026 at approximately 3:00 AM, carrying with it not only the colours, traditions and heritage of Rajasthan, but also the spirit of curiosity, friendship and national unity that lies at the heart of Yuva Sangam.
The delegation will be accompanied by Dr. Bhaskar Kumar Kakati, Assistant Professor and Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam Phase 7, IIT Jodhpur, and Mr. Avinash Kumar Chauhan, EBSB Student Head, IIT Jodhpur, along with other accompanying officials.
From the Thar to the Himalayas — Connecting Two States
The journey from Rajasthan to Sikkim represents more than a geographical transition—from the vast landscapes of the Thar Desert to the mountains of the Eastern Himalayas. It is an opportunity for young Indians to discover the richness of India's diversity while recognising the common values, aspirations and bonds that unite the nation.
During their visit to Sikkim, the delegates will engage with the State's people, culture, traditions, technological ecosystem, tourism potential and developmental journey. The exchange will be shaped around the five key pillars of Yuva Sangam — People, Traditions, Technology, Tourism and Development.
Through interactions with local communities, educational and cultural institutions, visits to places of historical and tourist significance, and exposure to local traditions and developmental initiatives, the delegates will gain first-hand insights into the distinctive identity of Sikkim.
At the same time, they will serve as young ambassadors of Rajasthan, sharing the State's vibrant traditions, folk culture, heritage, cuisine, entrepreneurial spirit and contemporary aspirations with their counterparts and communities in Sikkim.
Youth at the Heart of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
Yuva Sangam seeks to transform India's diversity into an opportunity for meaningful youth-to-youth engagement. By taking young people beyond the familiar and enabling them to experience another part of the country first-hand, the initiative creates lasting connections that transcend geography and language.
For the Rajasthan delegation, the visit to Sikkim is therefore not merely a tour, but a journey of discovery, dialogue and mutual learning—one that will allow participants to understand India through lived experiences and shared conversations.
The Flag-Off Ceremony at IIT Jodhpur marked the formal beginning of this journey, bringing together the aspirations of young people from Rajasthan as they prepare to experience the culture and development story of Sikkim.
As the delegation sets out, its journey carries a larger message:
Rajasthan to Sikkim — two distinctive landscapes, diverse traditions, one shared spirit of India.
Under the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” Yuva Sangam continues to build bridges of understanding, friendship and unity—one journey, one interaction and one young Indian at a time.
Rajasthan to Sikkim. A journey of connection, culture and unity.
