INDIAN AIR FORCE CELEBRATES 94TH AIR FORCE DAY AT AIR FORCE STATION HINDAN

The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its 94th Anniversary on 08 October 2026 at Air Force Station Hindan, Ghaziabad. The occasion showcased IAF's operational capabilities. technological advancement, professionalism and rich heritage. The ceremonial AF Day Parade (AFDP) was reviewed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh. The guests included Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff former Chiefs of Air Staff and other senior military Officers and civilians
The proceedings commenced with the marching-in of the President's Colours symbolising IAF's exceptional service, professional excellence, dedication and commitment to the nation. On arrival, the Chief of the Air Staff was presented with an aerial salute by three Mi-17 1V helicopters in ' Dhwaj' formation trooping the National flag and the IAF flag. The parade was commanded by Gp Capt Manish Sharma and was followed by an investiture ceremony, during which Air Warriors were awarded medals for gallantry and distinguished service. Units were also presented citations for excellence
The theme for this year's AF Day was 'Indian Air Force: Infallible, Impervious ang Precise (भारतीय वायु सेना: अचूक, अभेद्य व सटीक),' reflecting the IAF's unwavering commitment to safeguard the nation's skies with precision, resilience and operational excellence.
In his address Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff highlighted that “air power is the primary means of protecting the national interest”. He also stated that “The Indian Air Force remains alert, committed and ready to meet any contingency”, emphasising that operational capability and readiness are moving in the right direction. He stated that “an air force can have the most advanced aircraft in the world, but its true strength is measured by its operational preparedness—how quickly and confidently it can act whenever the call comes.” Referring to Operation Sindoor, he noted that the IAF’s swift transition into combat operations demonstrated its “destructive power as well as the effective Air Defence operations”. He further underlined that “‘Infallible, Impervious, Precise’ is not just a tagline; it is the manifestation of our strength and resolve.”
Reiterating the IAF’s commitment to technological advancement and self-reliance, he stated that “Atmanirbharta is our guiding principle”, while emphasising that emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and autonomous systems, would be integrated while keeping human authority at the core. He also stressed that “success in modern conflict demands deep synergy” and that joint planning and integrated combat application with the Army and Navy is a daily activity. On the aspect of space, he mentioned that “ Space is a natural extension of air domain” also highlighting the growing collaboration with ISRO and domestic space industry including IAF’s role in the Gaganyaan mission.
A static display of IAF assets provided the spectators and media personnel an opportunity to view the wide spectrum of the IAF's operational and combat capabilities Fighter aircraft, helicopters, Surface-to-Air and Surface-to-Surface Guided Weapon Systems, Radars and one way attack unmanned aerial systems were showcased at the parade. The display highlighted IAF's continuing focus on 'Make in India' and indigenous capability development. Five Unit Citations were presented to 24 Squadron ‘The Hawks’, 110 Helicopter Unit ‘The Vanguards’, 200 Squadron ‘Skanda’, 2402 Squadron ‘Vajra’ and the Electronic Warfare Range.
The celebration also featured a performance by Team Shakti, the IAF's all-women Air Warrior Drill Team. Known for its precision, agility and discipline, the team showcased synchronised movements and complex formations, reflecting professionalism and empowerment of women Air Warriors.
The IAF Drummers Team, comprising 33 young Air Warriors, presented a vibrant display featuring snare drums, roto drums, bass drums and cymbals, accompanied by dynamic formations and acrobatic movements
The event also featured a spectacular Aerial Display by IAF Heritage Flight showcasing the rich legacy of Indian Military Aviation. An aerial display by a vintage 'Tiger Moth' aircraft enthralled the audience and provided a befitting tribute to the glorious heritage of the IAF.
Following the celebrations at Air Force Station Hindan, the Air Force Day aerial display will be conducted at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on 25 October 2026
