The Department of Posts organised an interaction with media representatives in Raipur on the occasion of World Post Day and Philately Day as part of National Postal Week. On the occasion, picture postcards featuring five prominent waterfalls of Chhattisgarh—Mandwa, Lankapalli, Chitrakot, Tamda Ghumar and Tirathgarh—were released. The programme was attended by Shri Pranav Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, Chhattisgarh Postal Circle; Shri Subodh Prakash Singh, Director of Postal Services; and Ms Neeru, Director of Postal Accounts.

Addressing the media, Chief Postmaster General Shri Pranav Kumar stated that World Post Day is observed every year on 9 October to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874. The day aims to raise awareness about the role of postal services in the daily lives of citizens and businesses, as well as their contribution to global, social and economic development. This year's World Post Day theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” highlights the extensive reach and potential of an integrated postal network.

He observed that the rapid expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI), WhatsApp and other digital communication platforms has significantly transformed the way people communicate. Despite these changes, postal services continue to remain relevant. Letter writing is not merely a means of exchanging information; it is also a meaningful medium for expressing emotions, thoughts and personal sentiments. Through its extensive network, the Department of Posts continues to play an important role in connecting people and extending communication services to diverse sections of society.
During National Postal Week, various theme-based programmes are being organised at divisional offices across the Chhattisgarh Postal Circle. These initiatives aim to familiarise citizens with the range of services and facilities offered by the Department of Posts and to enhance public awareness of postal services.
The release of picture postcards featuring the Mandwa, Lankapalli, Chitrakot, Tamda Ghumar and Tirathgarh waterfalls marks an important initiative to showcase the natural heritage of Chhattisgarh to a wider audience. Philately—the collection and study of postage stamps—also provides an avenue for preserving and promoting historical, cultural and natural heritage. Through the observance of National Postal Week, the Department of Posts seeks to highlight its commitment to public service, extensive connectivity and continued relevance in an evolving communication landscape.
