The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Madurai International Airport, successfully concluded the Yatri Sewa Abhiyan 2026, a nationwide campaign conducted from September 17 to October 10, 2026, to improve passenger facilities and enhance the overall travel experience.

The campaign focused on cleanliness, passenger convenience, accessibility, safety, sustainability and better passenger assistance. As part of the campaign, a comprehensive review of passenger facilities and services was carried out to identify areas for further improvement.

Inspections were conducted across the terminal and other airport areas to review cleanliness, seating arrangements, drinking water facilities, signages, flight information displays, baggage trolleys, food outlets and facilities for senior citizens and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM).

Special attention was given to improving facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, including the availability of wheelchairs, ramps and accessible toilets. Passenger convenience was also improved through the review of charging points and other basic amenities.

The campaign included cultural performances to welcome passengers, passenger awareness activities, tourism promotion and inspections of food outlets to check hygiene and the display of prices. Activities were also carried out to promote environmental sustainability, improve service quality and strengthen coordination among airlines, CISF, concessionaires and other airport stakeholders.

The focus will now be on maintaining the improvements achieved during the campaign, addressing the observations identified during inspections and ensuring continuous improvement in passenger services through regular monitoring and coordination with all stakeholders.
