The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force will showcase its spectacular nine-aircraft aerobatic display at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, as part of the Indian Air Force Display 2026, commemorating the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force. The event will provide an opportunity for the people of Varanasi to witness the precision, discipline and professionalism that define the Service, while celebrating its proud legacy of service to the nation.

Flying nine Hawk Mk 132 aircraft, manufactured under licence by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the team will perform a series of intricate aerobatic manoeuvres that promise to leave spectators spellbound. Signature manoeuvres such as loops, barrel rolls, inverted flying and the iconic DNA manoeuvre will demonstrate exceptional coordination, control and synchronisation. With nine aircraft moving as one cohesive formation, complemented by vibrant saffron, white and green smoke trails, the display will bring colour and spectacle to the skies over Varanasi.

The Indian Air Force, established on 8 October 1932, completes 94 years of distinguished service in 2026. Over the decades, it has evolved into a modern aerospace power, upholding the highest standards of operational readiness, technological advancement and professional excellence. The Indian Air Force Display 2026 celebrates this journey and honours the courage, dedication and commitment of its air warriors.

Established in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team has a proud legacy of representing the Indian Air Force and the nation at air shows and public events across India and abroad. With over 850 displays to its credit, the team has earned recognition as the “Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force”. Every performance reflects extensive training, meticulous planning and complete trust among the pilots and their support team.

The display at Namo Ghat holds special significance, bringing the Indian Air Force's celebrations to Varanasi, a city renowned for its historic landmarks, magnificent ghats and rich cultural heritage. The setting provides a distinctive backdrop for a celebration of India's aviation capabilities, allowing the public to experience the skill and precision of the Service at close quarters.

Adding a personal connection to the occasion, five officers of the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team hail from Uttar Pradesh. For these five pilots, performing in their home state as part of the Indian Air Force Display 2026 makes the event particularly special. Their participation brings an added sense of pride to an occasion that celebrates both the achievements of the Service and its enduring connection with the people it serves.

Through its signature manoeuvres and breathtaking formations, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team aims to enthral audiences, inspire young Indians and bring the Indian Air Force closer to the people of the country. The display will be a tribute to the Service's legacy, its commitment to excellence and its unwavering dedication to the nation.
