Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, visited field offices of the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Finance in Mumbai on 22 October 2026 to review the implementation of the ongoing Special Campaign 6. The visits focused on assessing progress in cleanliness, space management, disposal of obsolete records and materials, and initiatives aimed at promoting efficient and sustainable workplace management.

As part of the visit to the field office of the Ministry of Railways, the Secretary visited Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), where she reviewed passenger amenities and initiatives undertaken to enhance passenger convenience. As part of the initiative under Special Campaign 6, she participated in Rail Jan Samvad in which she interacted with commuters and reviewed facilities and arrangements at the station, the main line platforms, ticketing facilities and the heritage building. The visit provided an opportunity to assess initiatives undertaken at the field level to improve public-facing services and maintain clean, organised and passenger-friendly railway premises. Additional Secretary, DARPG Shri Puneet Yadav, Shri Rajeev Srivastava, GM, Central Railways and other senior officers of Ministry of Railways were present during the event.

Subsequently, the Secretary visited the State Bank Bhavan, Corporate Centre, Mumbai, where she held a meeting with the top management of the State Bank of India (SBI). A presentation on Special Campaign 6 was made by the Bank Officials, highlighting initiatives and progress under the campaign. As part of the Campaign, the Secretary and the Chairperson of the SBI Shri CS Setty launched an e-book on Cyber Fraud Awareness, an initiative aimed at promoting awareness about cyber fraud and encouraging safe digital practices.

During the visit, the Secretary also viewed ‘Punarnava’, the e-waste-to-art sculpture installed at the entrance of State Bank Bhavan. The installation reflects the potential of repurposing discarded electronic materials through creative reuse which is one of the objectives of the Special Campaign. She also visited the SBI Auditorium, which has been renovated as part of the Special Campaign 6, reflecting the campaign’s focus on the optimal utilisation of existing office spaces and the transformation of underutilised infrastructure into functional facilities.

The Special Campaign 6 underscores the importance of institutionalising cleanliness, clearing obsolete records and materials, reclaiming underutilised office space, and ensuring the scientific disposal and recycling of waste, including electronic waste. The campaign promotes a culture of efficiency, environmental responsibility and sustainable resource management across government offices and public institutions.

The visits reaffirmed the importance of translating the objectives of Special Campaign 6 into tangible outcomes at the field level through regular monitoring, effective implementation and the adoption of sustainable workplace practices.
