An Outreach Programme on the recommendations of the 57th GST Council was held under the aegis of Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and Shri Sanjay Mangal, Member, CBIC in the presence of Shri Shubh Chintan, Chief Commissioner, CGST Chandigarh Zone at Chandigarh on 30 October 2026. The outreach also saw the participation of the Excise & Taxation Commissioners of Punjab & Himachal Pradesh. The programme brought together various stakeholders, including taxpayers, tax professionals and representatives of trade bodies, to discuss matters relating to the recommendations of the 57th GST Council.
The programme provided a platform to the stakeholders from trade and industry for interaction with the senior-most leadership of CBIC with a focus on apprising them of the recommendations of the 57th GST Council and facilitating discussion on issues concerning its implementation. More than 200 participants including taxpayers, representatives of industrial bodies & trade associations, tax professionals and other stake holders were present in the event who put forward their queries which were suitably answered by the Chairman and Member in an exclusive interactive session. The interaction was aimed at fostering constructive dialogue between the tax administration and the taxpayer community and facilitating a better understanding of the GST-related changes and measures recommended by the GST Council.
The Outreach Programme reflects the continued emphasis of the Ministry of Finance on stakeholder engagement, transparency and taxpayer facilitation. Such interactions provide an important avenue for constructive dialogue with taxpayers, trade associations and tax professionals and for strengthening coordination between the tax administration and the business community.
