The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, in association with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), organised a Plog Run at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, on 31 October 2026 as part of the nationwide Fit India Freedom Run 7.0 campaign.

The 1500-metre Plog Run was led by Shri Awadhesh Kumar Choudhary, Senior Economic Adviser, Department of Pharmaceuticals, and witnessed participation by officers and officials of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and Pharmaceuticals Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).
The initiative sought to promote the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily life while simultaneously encouraging environmental cleanliness. Through the concept of plogging, which combines jogging with picking up litter, the participants highlighted the message that individual efforts towards fitness and cleanliness can collectively contribute to a healthier society and a cleaner environment.
The Fit India Freedom Run, launched in 2020 under the Fit India Movement, aims to encourage citizens to make physical activity an integral part of their daily routine. Its underlying philosophy of "Run Anywhere, Anytime" promotes widespread participation and a culture of fitness across the country.
The event also coincided with the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), commemorating the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India's political integration. On the occasion, participants took the National Unity pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Through this initiative, the Department of Pharmaceuticals reiterated its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, environmental responsibility and the values of cleanliness, discipline and national unity among its officers and employees.
The event reinforced the message that a fitter individual, a cleaner environment and a united nation are integral to building a healthier and stronger India.
