Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, today delivered ‘Amini’, the fifth of the eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) being built for the Indian Navy. The vessel was accepted by Rear Admiral Gautam Marwaha, (Tech), Headquarters Eastern Naval Command. With this delivery, Amini becomes the 119th warship built by GRSE and the 81st delivered to the Indian Navy. This achievement follows GRSE’s historic delivery of three naval platforms – Dunagiri, Sanshodhak and Agray – on 30 March 2026.
Designed for coastal operations, Amini is equipped with an advanced Combat Management System, lightweight torpedoes and anti-submarine warfare rockets. Measuring 77.6 metres in length, the vessel is powered by marine diesel engines coupled with waterjets and has a shallow draught of approximately 2.7 metres, making it ideally suited for littoral operations.
Reflecting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the ASW-SWC programme incorporates approximately 88 per cent indigenous content and features a 30 mm Naval Surface Gun manufactured by GRSE.
GRSE is currently building 13 frontline naval platforms and 36 other vessels, including 13 export platforms, reaffirming its commitment to indigenous defence manufacturing and strengthening India's maritime security.
