Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the valedictory session of Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development on 9th October 2026 at around 4:30 PM at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The two-day Departmental Summit, being held on 8-9 October 2026, will witness participation of political leadership and officials dealing with the women and child development sector from all States. It is the second in the series of Departmental Summits envisioned by the Prime Minister to strengthen cooperative federalism, foster collective ownership of national priorities, and accelerate outcomes through closer Centre-State collaboration.

The Summit will focus on four themes:

  1. Reimagining Anganwadi Centres for better nutrition and early education
  2. Strengthening the protection system for vulnerable children
  3. Women’s safety through effective implementation of institutional and legislative frameworks
  4. Women’s empowerment through enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes.

The Departmental Summit model brings together stakeholders from the Union and State Governments to deliberate on sectoral priorities, share good practices, address implementation challenges, and agree on time-bound actions for improved governance and service delivery.
