India’s daily Recoveries outnumbering daily New Cases since last 20 Days;India continues to be among countries with lowest new cases and new deaths per million population in the last 7 days

The daily recovered cases in India continue to surpass the daily new cases. The daily recoveries have overtaken the daily new cases since last 20 days.Total cumulative recoveries stand at 1,03,59,305 today.13,320 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. The national Recovery Rate has further grown to 96.91%.12,689 daily new cases were added to the national tally in the last 24 hours.India’s total Active Caseload stands at 1,76,498 today.India’s present active caseload now composes of just 1.65% of India’s total Positive Cases. India has one of the lowest Daily New Cases per Million population (69) in the last 7 Days.As on 27^thJanuary, 2021, till 8 AM, more than 20lakh (20,29,480) beneficiaries have received the vaccination under the countrywide COVID19 vaccination exercise.In the last 24 hours, 5,671people were vaccinated across 194 sessions. 36,572 sessions have been conducted so far.84.52% of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 9 States/UTs.Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 5,290 newly recovered cases. 2,106 people recovered in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours followed by 738 in Karnataka.84.73% of the new cases are from 7 States and UTs.Kerala continues to report the highest daily new cases at 6,293. It is followed by Maharashtra with 2,405, while Karnataka reported 529 new cases.Seven States/UTs account for 83.94%of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (47). Kerala follows with 19daily deaths and Chhattisgarh with 14.India has reported only 1 death per million populationin the last seven days.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan,Union Minister of Health and Family welfare today inaugurated the 7th Edition of “MASCRADE 2021”- Movement against Smuggled & Counterfeit Trade on Thursday organised by FICCI Cascade. In his address, the Union Health Ministerexpressed pleasure that the 7th edition of MASCRADE will deliberate and discuss actionable, innovative policy solutions that can reverse the rising tide of counterfeit, smuggled and spurious products. He emphasized the challenges of COVID 19 pandemic and illegal operator of drugs and stated, “As we are all aware, amid the chaos created by the Covid-19 pandemic and the various policy responses designed to contain its spread, illicit players have used the pandemic as an opportunity to increase their nefarious activities, causing significant damage to the economy of the nation, health and safety of people worldwide.” Dr Harsh Vardhan added, “The aim of MASCRADE 2021 is to foster a healthy discussion on newer and practical strategies to mitigate the challenges of counterfeiting and smuggling especially in a post COVID era. Chief among them should be a focus on generating awareness. The COVID 19 pandemic has placed unprecedented demands on our health system. Dr. Harsh Vardhan,Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday unveiledIEC posters to address the emerging issue of vaccine hesitancy in some sections of population in the country in presence of Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Dr V K Paul, Member (Health), Niti Aayog.The world’s largest immunisation exercise against COVID-19 was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 16^th January 2021.More than 8 lakh healthcare workers have been vaccinated till 7 am on 21^st Jan 2021.The Union Health Minister reminded everyone of the achievements of the country, the second most populous country in the world. He said, “India is one of the few countries to halt the march of COVID-19 and simultaneouslydevelop a vaccine for COVID, thanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji who bestowed his personal attention to get the country rid of the pandemic.” Explaining the role of the vaccination in eradicating diseases, he noted, “The elimination of Polio and Smallpox was made possible by large scale immunization. Once immunized, not only that person is not capable of catching the disease, he/she is also unable to transmit the disease to others thus passing on the social benefit to the larger society he/she interacts with. Vaccination against COVID will similarly create persons incapable of transmitting the disease and eradicate the disease altogetherin some time.”Dr Harsh Vardhan urged everyone to counter the vested campaigns of untruth and misinformation.

Vice President asks Centre to consider setting up vaccine testing and certification lab in Hyderabad

The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday spoke to the Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan and urged the Centre to consider the request of the Telangana government to set up a vaccine testing and certification laboratory at the Genome Valley in Hyderabad.Shri Naidu referred to the request made by the Telangana IT Minister, Shri K T Rama Rao to the Union Health Minister in this regard. Shri Rao, in a letter to the Union Health Minister pointed out that Hyderabad was manufacturing over six billion doses annually and contributing one-third of global vaccines production. Dr. Harsh Vardhan assured the Vice President that he would examine the request from all angles. He also informed the Vice President that there were seven vaccine testing and certification laboratories in the world, including the one at Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh, and that an accreditation would be required from an international body for such a facility.

3th Instalment of Rs.6,000 crore released to the States to meet the GST compensation shortfall

The Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure has released the 13^th weekly instalment of Rs. 6,000 crore to the States today to meet the GST compensation shortfall. Out of this, an amount of Rs. 5,516.60 crore has been released to 23 States and an amount of Rs. 483.40 crore has been released to the 3 Union Territories (UT) with Legislative Assembly (Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir & Puducherry) who are members of the GST Council. The remaining 5 States, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim do not have a gap in revenue on account of GST implementation. Till now, 70 percent of the total estimated GST compensation shortfall has been released to the States & UTs with Legislative Assembly. Out of this, an amount of Rs. 71,099.56 crore has been released to the States and an amount of Rs. 6,900.44 crore has been released to the 3 UTs with Legislative Assembly. The amount released this week was the 13^th instalment of such funds provided to the States. So far, an amount of Rs. 78,000 crore has been borrowed by the Central Government through the special borrowing window at an average interest rate of 4.7491%.

Inspite of Covid challenges Indian Railways now running 65% of Mail Express Trains as compared to pre Covid time

Inspite of Covid challenges Indian Railways is now running total 1138 Mail/Express including Festival Express trains per day in different Zones of Indian Railways. All important destinations across the country are connected by these special trains. Need for running of more trains is being constantly reviewed. In pre-covid times, Indian Railways was running average 1768 Mail/Express trains per day. It is noteworthy that total 115 pairs of Mail/Express train have been approved so far in month of January 2021.

• Assam: In Assam, 8 new cases of COVID-19 detected and 1 death reported on Tuesday. Total cases rise to 217025, total discharged 213763 and total death 1079. Active case 836.
• Nagaland: In Nagaland, 2 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Tuesday. Total cases rise to 12081. Total death 88.
• Maharashtra: Maharashtra’s recovery rate stands at 95.24% while the case fatality rate stands at 2.53%. With 57,229 tests in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has conducted 1.43 crore coronavirus tests so far and the positivity rate stands at 14.06 percent. Mumbai’s caseload has increased to 3,06,740. • Madhya Pradesh:Covid positivity rate is consistently declining in the state and now stands at 1.1%. 11 districts recorded no positive cases yesterday (26th Janurary). Meanwhile, Covid vaccination is being done smoothly in the state. • Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh on Tuesday reported 321 COVID-19 cases and 9 deaths, taking the infection count to 2,97,429 and the toll to 3,644. • Rajasthan: COVID vaccination is being held at 1205 sites in Rajasthan today. The health department has set a target to vaccinate over 1,14,000 health workers today. Health department is continuously increasing the session sites to complete the vaccination of 4.5 lakh registered health workers by 31st January. 2410 vaccination sessions have been organized in the state so far and 1,61,116 health workers have been vaccinated. No new case was reported from 15 districts out of 33 districts.  While, less than 5 persons tested positive in 13 districts of the state. The number of active cases has also been reduced to less than 3000 in the state.New Cases- 125; Active Cases - 1,066; Total recovered patients-3,11,374; Total deaths- 2760; Total positive cases-3,16,970; Samples tested till date- 57,71,559
• Goa: Goa's COVID Recovery rate has reached 97.6% leaving the total active cases in the state below 1000. More than 4.4 lakh samples have been tested so far.New Cases- 63; Deaths-   01; Recovered patients- 62; Active Cases – 774; Total recovered patients-51,510; Total deaths- 763; Total positive cases-53,047; Samples tested till date- 4,42,488
• Kerala: According to health experts, Kerala which effectively prevented the pandemic, is now on the brink of a second Covid surge. Latest reports show that the state has now topped the country in terms of per day Covid-19 cases in the country. In the past few weeks, per day cases in the state are above 6,000 and test positivity rate hovers at 10%. Meanwhile, the state health department has started to implement an action plan to expand the Covid vaccination drive. The number of vaccination centers will be raised to 249 from the present 133. The Union Health Ministry has sanctioned 60,500 doses of Covishield vaccine in the second phase. The state yesterday reported 6,293 new coronavirus positive cases after 60,315 tests. The state has reported 8,99,932 COVID-19 cases so far. Several health experts have hinted that the contact tracing and surveillance testing measures should be done more rigorously as it was during the initial phases to keep the disease under control. The state's death toll has risen to 3,643. So far 71 people who returned from UK were tested positive and 45 of them later tested negative.
• Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Public health department has said that only 40% of the targeted medical and frontline workers were inoculated for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu in the last 10 days after the vaccination drive was launched on January 16. Health secretary J Radhakrishnan informed that private hospitals inviting ‘registrations’ for Covid-19 vaccination or trying to monetise the government-sponsored programme will have their licences cancelled besides facing action under the Clinical Establishment Act.
• Karnataka: As on date, Karnataka recorded 936955 total cases, 12,204 deaths, 6633 Active cases and 918099 discharges
• Andhra Pradesh:  A day after Andhra Pradesh recorded less than 100 new coronavirus cases, the single-day tally went up to 172 in the last 24 hours ending on Tuesday, while the cumulative infection count increased to 8,88,723. With one death case being reported in Kadapa district, the death toll rose to 7,150. The number of active cases came down to 1,357 as 203 patients recovered in the past day, taking the total recoveries to 8,78,731. The recovery rate remained at 99.04 per cent. The positivity rate of the 38,323 samples tested during the period was put at 0.45 per cent, while the overall positivity rate of 1.294 crore samples tested was 6.86 per cent.  The total number of tests done in the State so far stood at 1,29,42,153. Meanwhile, following the Supreme Court ruling, Adityanath Das, the chief secretary directed all the employees to participate in the election duties of local bodies.  The State Election Commission (SEC) also made it clear that the postponement of elections cannot be carried out which had been announced earlier.
• Telangana: Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has written a letter to the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan requesting him to set up a Vaccine Testing and Certification Laboratory in Hyderabad on the lines of the Central Drug Laboratory in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri G.Kishan Reddy launched the mobile publicity campaign on Corona Vaccination  Drive, jointly organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India by flagging off mobile publicity vans on 23rd of this month in Hyderabad. The mobile awareness campaign on Covid vaccination will cover eight districts of Telangana namely --Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Warangal (Urban), Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Sangareddy till 29th of this month.Covid vaccination for private health staff including doctors began on 25th of this month in the state. Till now, a total of 1.55 lakh private health staff registered their names in Co-WIN App for vaccination in the state. Out of this, 42,915 people were supposed to take the vaccine on the first day. But only 20,359 turned up (47.4 percent).  About 36.40 percent of the registered Govt health staff did not take the vaccine.  The cumulative number of health staff (including Private and Govt) vaccinated in the state reached 1,30,607. Yesterday (Republic Day) and Today (Every Wednesday regular immunization programme is carried out) are holidays for Covid vaccination.
