COVID-19 UPDATE

  • India reports 70,421 Daily New Cases in the last 24 hours; lowest after 74 days
  • India's Active Caseload declines below 10 Lakh mark after 66 days

India continues to report a sustained slide in the daily new COVID cases. The country has reported 70,421 Daily New Cases in the last 24 hours. Less than 1 lakh Daily New Cases have been reported for 7 continuous days now. This is a result of sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs.

India has also been witnessing a continuous fall in the active caseload. The country’s Active Caseload today stands at 9,73,158. The Caseload has declined below 10 lakh mark after 66 days.A net decline of 53,001 is witnessed in the last 24 hours and active cases are now only 3.30% of the country's total Positive Cases.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

More than 26.68 crore (26,68,36,620) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 25,27,66,396 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today).

More than 1.40 crore (1,40,70,224) COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.Furthermore, more than 96,490 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the States/UTs within the next 3 days.

Additional 106300 vials of Amphotericin- B allocated to States/UTs to and Central Institutions – Shri D. V. SadanandaGowda

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri D.V. SadanandaGowda announced via Twitter that to ensure significant availability of Liposomal  Amphotricin B, additional 106300 vials of the drug have been allocated across all the States/UTs and Central Institutions today.

The Minister further said that a total of 53,000 vials of Conventional Amphotericin B have also been allocated to all the States/UTs & Central Institutions today. The allocation of conventional Amphotericin B is being made to ensure its smooth supply and timely treatment of patients.

Jaipur International Airport facilitates essential medical supplies amid tough times

  • 683 boxes of Covid Vaccine and 527 Boxes of oxygen concentrators transported from 1st May to 09th June 2021
  • 85 Boxes of Black Fungus medicines also transported from 1st May to 09th June 2021

A total 683 boxes(20.59 MT) of Covid Vaccine,527 Boxes (8.24MT) of oxygen concentrator, 42 Boxes (475 Kg) of Oximeter,30 Boxes (542 Kg) of COVID19 Detection Kit, 08 Boxes (224 Kg) of Vaccination Kitand 85 Boxes (612 Kg) of Black Fungus medicines have been transported through various airlines from 1st May 2021 till 09th June 2021 through Jaipur Airport.

To overcome the oxygen crisis, a total of 09 empty oxygen tankers were transported from Jaipur to Jamnagar through Indian Airforce aircraft (C17)from 26th April 2021 to16th May 2021.

850 oxygen plants being set up in various districts of country: Secretary DRDO

A total of 850 oxygen plants are being set up in various districts of the country from PM Cares Fund for catering to the needs of the country to fight the pandemic COVID-19, Dr C Satish Reddy, Secretary, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), highlighted at the Department of Science & Technology (DST) Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Discourse Series.

He added that DRDO was prepared to provide all kinds of support when the need arises, and more flying hospitals would be ready, as was provided by DRDO in the second wave of COVID-19, to help the people.

Pune-based firm comes up with 3D-printed Masks Coated with Anti-Viral Agents

An integration of 3D printing and pharmaceuticals has resulted in a novel type of mask which attacks the virus when viral particles come in contact with it. Developed by Pune-based start-up firm Thincr Technologies India Private Limited, these masks are coated with anti-viral agents known otherwise as virucides. The virucidal mask project is among the earliest projects to have been selected for commercialization, by Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as part of the Government’s fight against COVID-19.

DBT-funded Startup Offers AI-powered Contact-free Health Monitor & Step-Down ICU

Through its Million ICU initiative, Dozee aims to improve public healthcare by utilising transformative technology to provide high-quality care to every individual. The company aims to upgrade 50,000 public hospital beds into Step-Down ICUs by raising CSR funds from several Indian and International organisations. This initiative will enable the hospitals to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and usher in a rapid and long-term transformation in India's public healthcare infrastructure.

IIT Ropar develops nation's first power-free CPAP device 'Jivan Vayu'

Aimed at saving lives in low resource areas and during transit

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has developed a device ‘Jivan Vayu’ which can be used as a substitute of CPAP machine. However, this is Nation’s first such device which functions even without electricity and is adapted to both kinds of oxygen generation units like O2 cylinders and oxygen pipelines in hospitals. These provisions are not available in otherwise existing CPAP machines.

Kerala:A high-level meeting chaired by State Health Minister Veena George today formulated an action plan to be implemented in the event of a third wave of Covid-19. Along with increasing the medical facilities, the goal is to vaccinate two to two and a half lakh people daily. The state government has also decided to re-examine Covid-19 death toll following widespread complaints of authorities hiding the real toll. Meanwhile, the state recorded 11,584 new Covid cases yesterday. With 206 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 11,181. The TPR stood at 12.24 %.  A total of 1,13,25,484   people have so far been vaccinated in the state. Out of this 90,71,276 took first dose and 22,54,208 took second dose.

 

Tamil Nadu:Extended lockdown with relaxations have come into effect in Tamil Nadu. State Health Minister said that a special Covid-19 task force is being formed in the 11 districts of Tamil Nadu that are still witnessing an increase in the cases of Covid-19. State has so far received over 5,000 MT oxygen through oxygen expresses. TN Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan has said 355 persons who were not affected by Covid have been diagnosed with black fungus. TN reported 14,061 new Covid cases and 267 fatalities yesterday. On vaccination front, 2,08,123 got jabs yesterday. Till date 1,08,42,928 have been vaccinated across the State, of which 86,91,807 received first dose and 21,51,121 received second dose.

 

Karnataka:After an eight-week lockdown, lockdown has been relaxed in 19 districts starting today while 11 districts with high positivity rate have to wait longer. The state will witness the trial of drug delivery through drone for the first time in the country; the preliminary trial will be held at Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapur district from June 18 and the official trial from June 21 for 45 days. A total of 38,34,843 had received the first dose in the city (including both Bengaluru Urban and BBMP) as of Sunday night. That translates to roughly about 34% (one-third) of the city’s estimated target population of 1.1 cr people aged 18 and above. Till date 1,69,55,711 have been vaccinated across the State, of which 1,39,43,769  received first dose and 30,11,942 received second dose.

 

Andhra Pradesh: State reported 6770 new Covid-19 cases after testing 1,02,876 samples with 58 deaths, while 12,492 got discharged during the last 24 hours. A total of 1,19,29,606 doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the state as on yesterday, which include 93,06,916 first doses and 26,22,690 second doses. Economically weak families from the Scheduled Castes who have lost the sole earning member of the family to Covid-19 will now get financial assistance of Rs 5 Lakh from the State government to ensure a sustainable income for the household. The assistance will include a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh, and the remaining Rs 4 lakh is to be paid to the beneficiaries in instalments.

 

Telangana:As many as 1280 new daily Covid cases and 15 deaths were reported yesterday taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,03,369 and fatalities to 3484. 1,52,087 people of all categories received first dose and 3694 people second dose yesterday. The cumulative number of people received first dose in the state stands at 64,69,106 and second dose at 15,10,530. The State Health Department has decided to conduct Special Vaccination Drive for 13 more ‘special groups’ to inoculate about 3 lakh people from 14th (today) to 17th of this month. These groups include employees of State Excise, Panchayat Raj, Banks, Postal department, Women Self-Help group members, Dialysis and thalassemia patients, Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs) and Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs).

 

Assam:A total of 36 Covid deaths were reported in Assam in the last 24 hours, while 2,167 new infections were detected in 1,00,455 tests done during the day, the positivity rate being 2.16 percent. Kamrup Metro saw 226 new cases.The state health department is ready with 2000 teams to intensify the COVID-19 vaccination drive as soon as the centre supplies vaccine doses to it. Health Minister KeshabMahanta said, the target for each of the 2000 teams is the inoculation of 200 vaccine doses per day.

Manipur:15 more deaths reported, 530 out of 5,059 test positive.The number of persons vaccinated in Manipur reached 4,67,076 on Sunday .Mass testing continues in different parts of the state.Over 3,000 people tested during RAT mobile testing drive; 323 test COVID-19 positive.Shopkeepers with Covid free certificates only can open shops in Kangpokpi
District.

Meghalaya: The positivity rate in Meghalaya, including COVID-19 hotspot East Khasi Hills district, has continued to decline. The positivity rate has come done from 11.74% to 10.11% over a fortnight. This figure a month ago was 15.46%. Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 305 fresh Covid cases, the lowest in the last one week, while also recording 547 recoveries.
Six fatalities in the last 24 hours pushed the death toll to 733.

Sikkim:Out of 1312 testsconducted, Sikkim recorded 157 new Covid positive cases on Sunday.The total active tally now is 3,553, with 387 recoveries. For the
past one week the positive cases have come down, resulting in good recovery rate in the State. The tests are being conducted in full swing followed by vaccination drives in the districts.

Tripura: 30,000 vaccine to be administered to people in the age group of 18-44 from today covering whole of the state. Meanwhile in last 24 hours 565 people were tested positive and 7 more succumbed to covid.

Nagaland:Nagaland reports 82 new cases and 5 deaths on Sunday. Active cases are 3502 while total reaches 23,644.Radom sampling, vaccination and awareness drives held in different parts of the state.

Maharashtra:In view of IMD's warning of heavy to very heavy rain in costal Konkan and Mumbai region up to 15th June, the Maharashtra health department has decided to suspend vaccination drive for a while in Mumbai, suburban and some parts of Konkan region.
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 10,442 new COVID cases pushing the total tally to 59,08,992. In the last 24 hours, the state also saw 483 deaths, pushing the toll to 1,11,104. Also 7,504 recoveries were recorded in the same time span taking the total to 56,39,271. Mumbai logged 700 new cases, 704 discharges and 19 deaths in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra's cumulative count of black fungus or mucormycosis cases reached 7,395 on Sunday. Of these, 644 people infected to black fungus have died, while 2,212 have recovered from the disease.

Gujarat: Gujarat has crossed the 2 crore mark in the administration of COVID-19 doses which is a new milestone. 2,34,501 persons have been vaccinated in the state yesterday.
Gujarat has recorded 455 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday. 1063 patients recovered during the last 24 hours and were discharged from the hospitals.8,75,000 patients have  recovered from Covid19 in Gujarat till now. The recovery rate further improved and reached up to 97.53 percent. Gujarat has 10,249 active cases at present, out of which 253 patients are on ventilators.

Rajasthan: Rajasthan recorded seven more coronavirus-related fatalities and 308 fresh cases on Sunday, taking the death toll and the infection tally to 8,822 and 9,49,684.Rajasthan government on Saturday announced to pay a lumpsum of ₹1 lakh and a monthly stipend of ₹2,500 to all children orphaned due to COVID till they are 18 years of age. And once they turn 18, they would be handed a lump sum of ₹5 lakh. The state government announced that the benefit is offered under 'Mukhyamantri Corona BalKalyanYojana'.Out of 111 PSA oxygen plants being set up in the state 20 have started functioning.

Madhya Pradesh: In Madhya Pradesh, 'Yuva Shakti Corona MuktiAbhiyan’ will be launched to make people aware about the COVID pandemic. In the Yuva Shakti Corona MuktiAbhiyan, college teachers and around 16 lakh students will be made aware of corona infection by learning Covid appropriate behavior and vaccination. A mobile app has also been developed for effective real time online monitoring of the campaign.Madhya Pradesh is now at number 26 in the country in terms of corona infection. At the same time, on the basis of the suggestions received from the various Crisis Management Committees, a new guide line will be issuedMeanwhile, only 274 cases of corona infection have been reported in the state in the past 24 hours. There is not a single case in 20 districts.

Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 tally mounted to 9,86,963 on Sunday as 459 people tested positive for the infection, while six fresh fatalities took the toll to 13,317. The number of recoveries reached 9,59,969 after a total of 147 people were discharged from various hospitals, while 802 others completed their home isolation during the day. The coronavirus case positivity rate declined to 1.4 per cent, which had reached 30 per cent in April during the peak of the second wave.

Goa: Goa government has extended Corona curfew in the state till 21st of this month. Goa's coronavirus caseload went up by 420 to reach 1,62,468 on Sunday, while the death toll mounted by 14 to 2,928. As 581 patients got discharged from hospitals during the day, the coastal state's recovery count rose to 1,54,658. Currently, there are 4,882 COVID-19 active cases in the state.

Punjab: The total number of patients tested Positive is 587903. Number of active cases is 12981. Total Deaths reported is 15562. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 1st dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 1246849. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 2nd dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 315991. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 1st dose is 3098770. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 2nd dose is 505379.

 

Haryana: Total Number of Samples found positive till date is 765861. Total active COVID-19 patients is 4661. Number of deaths is 8992. Cumulative number of people vaccinated till date is 6521486.

 

Chandigarh: Total Lab confirmed COVID-19 cases is 61110. Total number of Active Cases is  520. Total number of COVID-19 deaths till date is 792.

 

Himachal Pradesh: Total number of patients tested Covid positive till date is 198550. Total number of Active Cases is 4777. Total deaths reported till date is 3375.
