The total number of dry ports/Inland Container Depot (ICD) in the country along with operational capacity currently, state-wise, as given by Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, are at Annexure-A.
The details of dry ports/Inland Container Depot (ICD) being constructed across the country and their estimated date of completion as given by Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, are at Annexure-B.
The Government has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) to act as a single window for clearance of proposals to set up dry ports/Inland Container Depot (ICDs)/Container Freight Stations (CFSs)/Air Freight Stations (AFSs). Further, Government revises its policy and procedure for setting up of ICD/Dry Ports from time to time to meet the requirement of the changing paradigm and the aspiration of the trade. As per Circular No. 50/2020 dated 05.11.2020 issued by Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government takes into account the present capacity, future growth potential and regional imbalances and also address the need for bringing uniformity, transparency and seamless approval process, addresses the identified regulatory and logistics concerns associated with the hard and soft infrastructure of ICDs/CFSs/AFSs in India, establishes a framework of functional requirements pertaining to the design and operation of dry ports as well as establish certain process to enable sustainable growth of the sector and aims to lay down appropriate institutional, administrative and regulatory frameworks for development and smooth operation of ICDs/CFSs/AFSs, including procedures for regulatory inspection and execution of applicable custom control and formalities.
