Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) [SBM(G)] is being implemented during the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26, with the focus on Open Defecation Free (ODF) sustainability and to cover all the villages with solid and liquid waste management i.e. converting the villages from ODF to ODF Plus (Model). 4,72,480 Villages have been declared as ODF Model Villages upto 31.07.2025.
Government of India provides Financial and Technical supports to States/UTs in implementation of SBM(G) including ODF-Plus activities.
Unfavorable Geographical Condition (Hilly terrain, Scattered villages/hamlets/households, road connectivity etc.) is the major challenges to performing sanitation activities (especially solid & Liquide waste Management) for achieving of ODF-Plus activities in Hilly States including Uttarakhand. Government of India have taken up following steps to resolve such challenges: -
Special coordination with all line departments including Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj Department
Involvement of Panchayati Raj Department for Operation & maintenance of rural Sanitation Structures and community involvements.
Activity Mapping with the collaboration of Panchayati Raj department for Inorganic Waste Management/Plastic waste Management
