Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) Chennai celebrated Institute of National Importance Day (INI Day) 2025 on 05 August 2025 with great enthusiasm, centered around the theme “Vision 2030 – Empowering Today, Transforming Tomorrow.” The event brought together eminent leaders from industry and academia, alumni, students, and institutional heads for a dynamic confluence of ideas, innovation, and inspiration.

The day began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, Tamil Thai Vaazhthu, and the national anthem, followed by a welcome address by Mr. M. Sundaresan, Executive Director, FDDI Chennai.

Key Highlights:

The morning session featured the Vision 2030 presentation by Shri Vivek Sharma, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI. Vision 2030 outlines a roadmap to transform FDDI from a national institution into a global design force. Built on 10 strategic pillars, it addresses all dimensions of institutional growth and leadership.

The dignitaries also released the “One FDDI” Compendium—a comprehensive overview of services offered by FDDI to the industry—dedicated to the sector as a symbol of FDDI’s integrated commitment.

Industry & Institutional Excellence:

A major segment of the event was the Panel Discussion on “Role of FDDI – Industry Perspective,” moderated by Mr. Selvam, IAS. The panel featured key industry leaders:

This was followed by an Alumni Spotlight Session titled "From Campus to Corporate: Navigating the Transition", where accomplished alumni shared their career journeys and insights with current students.

The afternoon session commenced with a Student Panel on “Ambitions and Aspirations”, highlighting the goals, dreams, and creative energies of the student community. The panel reflected FDDI’s core mission of empowering young minds through education, leadership, and innovation.

Cultural Showcase:

The day concluded with a vibrant Cultural Program celebrating India’s artistic heritage. Highlights included:

• Classical performances in Bharatanatyam and Kathak
• Soulful vocal and instrumental recitals
• Contemporary group dances
• A spectacular Fashion Show titled “Stride & Style” by FDDI’s design students
• A special Karagam folk dance performance by a second-year FDP student, serving as a colorful and energetic finale

Recognitions & Networking:

A felicitation ceremony honored the contributions of dignitaries, industry leaders, campus directors, and alumni, reaffirming FDDI’s enduring commitment to academic and industry excellence.

The celebrations concluded with a networking session over high tea, fostering connections, collaborations, and reflections on the road ahead.
