Indian Coast Guard to Conduct 10th Edition of NATPOLREX and 27th NOSDCP Meeting

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is set to conduct the 10th edition of the National Level Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX-X) in conjunction with the 27th National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOSDCP) & Preparedness Meeting from October, 05-06 2025, off the coast of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The two-day event will see active participation from central ministries, coastal state governments, major ports, oil handling agencies, and maritime organizations. It will also host over 100 national delegates and more than 40 foreign observers from 32 countries, highlighting its growing international relevance in the domain of marine pollution response. The biennial flagship exercise aims to evaluate and enhance India’s national preparedness to respond to marine oil spill incidents and to test the efficiency of inter-agency coordination as laid out under the NOSDCP framework.
To showcase India’s operational capabilities, the ICG will deploy a range of pollution response assets, including ships and aircraft equipped for maritime pollution control. The drills will demonstrate the ICG’s multi-tiered response strategy, underscoring the importance of coordinated maritime operations among national and international partners.
NATPOLREX-X 2025 reaffirms India’s commitment to marine environmental protection, reflecting the nation’s broader vision of sustainable development and ecological responsibility. The exercise will further strengthen inter-agency collaboration, promote best practices, and set new benchmarks in maritime environmental stewardship and technological integration.
