Recognised as one of the premier events of the NCC Air Wing, the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC) brings together cadets from 17 Directorates to demonstrate their flying skills, discipline, leadership and teamwork under rigorous training standards. The Maharashtra Air Wing Contingent underwent a structured and progressive training programme through the Inter Group Competition (IGC), followed by Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp–1 (PVSC-1) and Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp–2 (PVSC-2). These successive stages provided the cadets with intensive training and opportunities to refine their skills across various domains in preparation for the national-level camp.

The backbone of Maharashtra’s preparation has been the training establishment at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force, Nagpur, where meticulously planned training sessions were conducted. The PI staff worked continuously to hone the cadets’ skills through sustained training, guidance and dedication. Wing Commander V. Deepika Rao, Camp Commandant, Group Captain Santosh Babu, Commanding Officer, 1 MAH AIR SQN and Wing Commander Arpan Chanda, 3 MAH AIR SQN, provided guidance and mentorship throughout the preparation.

No. 2 MAH AIR SQN, Nagpur, once again served as the launching and preparatory unit and played a significant role in the successful conduct of the training process. The unit contributed towards organising the camps, facilitating the training of the cadets, and ensuring the timely distribution of kitting and other essential items required for their participation. Its continued support and coordination contributed significantly to the systematic preparation of the Maharashtra contingent.

Major General Vivek Tyagi, ADG, NCC Directorate Maharashtra, virtually interacted with the contingent and motivated the cadets. Brigadier Manish Sharma, DDG, NCC Directorate Maharashtra and Group Captain Khushal Vyas, Group Commander, Nagpur Group also visited the camp to oversee the training.

The cadets underwent intensive training across diverse domains. Firing practice with .22 rifles and skeet shooting strengthened accuracy and endurance, while powered flying, gliding and simulator sessions prepared the cadets for the prestigious Best Pilot Competition. Aeromodelling enhanced their technical knowledge and understanding of aviation technology. Drill and tent pitching were practised with emphasis on coordination and synchronisation, while classroom sessions strengthened theoretical knowledge of aircraft systems, aviation principles and air regulations.

The Maharashtra Directorate moves forward with a contingent that embodies the core values of the NCC - discipline, resilience, precision, teamwork and commitment to excellence. AIVSC provides a demanding national platform for cadets to demonstrate their technical proficiency, leadership, teamwork and dedication.

The All India Vayu Sainik Camp 2026 commences on 30 September at Air Force Station Tambaram, Chennai. Over the next 14 days, the Maharashtra contingent will participate in a series of demanding competitions and activities. The coming fortnight will provide the cadets an opportunity to translate their intensive training, discipline and perseverance into performance on the national platform.
