Endangered Tribal Languages

Ministry of Tribal Affairs envisages to identify and enlist endangered tribal languages across the country in consultation with the State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) with a view to preserve and promote the same. Presently, Ministry of Tribal Affairs extends support to State Governments / UTs for development of bilingual Primers under the Scheme ‘Support to Tribal Research Institutes’ for enhancement of learning achievement level amongst the Scheduled Tribe Students.

So far 82 language primers have been developed by various State Governments as detailed below:-
