Domestic production vis-a-vis import of natural gas

 

 

            The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today that the year-wise details of the domestic production and import of natural gas during the last three year along with the year wise value of imported LNG are as under:

Majority of LNG import is from Qatar and are on term basis.

In order to increase the domestic production of natural gas in the country, the policy initiatives undertaken by Government are given hereinunder:

1         The New Domestic Natural Gas Pricing Guidelines, 2014 has been announced on 25.10.2014.

2          Plan for appraisal of about 1.5 million sq. km un-appraised area of the Indian Sedimentary Basins.

3          Re-assessment of Hydrocarbon Resources.

4          Setting up of National Data Repository.

5         Policy approved for exploration and exploitation of Shale Gas/Shale Oil resources by NOCs under  the Nomination Regime.

6         Policy approved for exploration in the Mining Lease (ML) areas after the expiry of exploration period.

7         Policy approved on Non–exclusive Multi-client Speculative Survey for assessment of unexplored sedimentary basins

8       Policy frame work approved for relaxations, extensions and clarifications at the development and production stage under the PSC regime for early monetisation of hydrocarbon discoveries.
