Remnants of Indian Culture in South-East Asia
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture & Tourism Shri Shripad Yesso Naik has said that the Government is well aware of the important remnants of Indian culture in South- East Asia. These vestiges in the form of temples, sculptures, stupas, monasteries etc. are scattered in many South - East Asia countries.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Naik said, Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) is executing conservation and restoration works at Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia, Vat phou Temple in Lao PDR and Ananda Temple in Myanmar under the aegis of Ministry of External Affairs. In addition, the restoration work of Thiruketheeswarm Temple at Mannar in Sri Lanka is also supervised by the ASI.
