NALCO raises Power generation
The capacity of the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO)'s Captive Power Plant (CPP) at Angul has been enhanced to 960 MW, with the synchronization of the 120 MW 8th unit in February 2004. Incorporating advance features in pollution control, this unit of CPP has been set up at a cost of Rs. 480 crore with the help of project consultants M/s. M.N. Dastur and project contractors M/s. BHEL.

The enhanced power generation would help NALCO achieve higher aluminium metal production from its Smelter Plant, whose capacity has been increased from 2,30,000 tonnes to 3,45,000 tonnes per annum.
