Minister of State for
Civil Aviation, Shri K. C. Venugopal informed the Lok Sabha today that Indira
Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi has recently introduced an advance
system called Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) to curb delays in
landing and take-offs and make them precise and predictable.
Airport
Collaborative Decision Making works on target timings rather than the
estimates. It is a major shift in the working of airport operations from the
conventional system. A-CDM facilitates the sharing of operational data for a
better informed, well-planned and transparent decision-making to ensure more
precise overall operational processes. It leads to an optimised utilisation of
resources, an efficient turn-around process and everyone has common awareness
of the situation. A-CDM effectively enhances predictability, overall
efficiency and punctuality by linking and sharing of accurate and timely
information among airlines, airport operator, Air Traffic Control, ground
handlers etc. All the partners work in close collaboration. The overall
improvement, in landing and take-off time of planes, is as follows:
On
Time Performance Before A-CDM After
A-CDM
Departure
79.4% 86.4%;
Arrival
73.0% 79.2%;
At present, more than 30 countries are
using A-CDM including Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium and
Australia.
