Arrangements for upkeep, maintenance and management
of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumbudur
The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to entrust to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) arrangements for upkeep and maintenance and management of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumbudur. This includes organizing functions on the birth and death anniversaries at the memorial and day to day operations and for providing appropriate budget to the CPWD for this purpose.
Background:
The Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, built at public cost attracts a large number of visitors every day. Therefore, the memorial requires to be provided with the same level of upkeep/maintenance and management as has been provided for other edifices of the kind.
