Final orders of Delimitation Commission published

The Delimitation Commission for delimitation of all parliamentary Constituencies and the Assembly Constituencies except in the State of J&K has published its final orders demarcating the Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies in respect of the States of Goa, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura and the Union Territory of Pondicherry in the Gazette of India.

The Delimitation Commission was constituted on 12th July, 2002 under Section 3 of the Delimitation Act, 2002 for delimitation of all parliamentary and assembly constituencies. Section 4 of the Commission provided for readjustment of the division of each State into territorial constituencies on the basis of Census of the year 2001. Five members of the Legislative Assembly and five Members of Parliament from each State are nominated as the associate members of the Commission.

This information was given by the Minister of Law and Justice, Shri H. R. Bhardwaj in a written reply to the questions from Prof. M. Ramadass and others in the Lok Sabha today.
