Assistance for Poor Cancer Patients

The Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund (HMCPF) was established as a Corpus Fund within Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi(RAN) with and outlay of Rs.100 crore. Interest earned from the Corpus Fund is released as Revolving Fund to the 27 Regional Cancer Centres (RCCs). The financial assistance up to Rs 1.00 lakh to Below Poverty Line (BPL) cancer patients is provided by the RCCs concerned through the revolving fund placed at their disposal. The cases of financial assistance above Rs. 1.00 lakh are referred to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for providing assistance from the Central Funds.

Number of patients provided financial assistance by Regional Cancer Centres (RCCs) during 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and current year (till 30.6.2014) under Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund (HMCPF) is given below:
