32 PSUs are under the
administrative control of the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public
Enterprises. 14253 SC and 8357 ST persons have been employed in various posts
in these 32 PSUs. The details are at Annexure-I.
43 SC/ST Employees
Welfare Associations have been formed in 9 out of 32 PSUs under the
administrative control of the Ministry. The details of these Associations are
at Annexure-II.
PSUs provide office
accommodation to these SC/STs Welfare Associations and also necessary
infrastructure facilities, such as, telephone, office furniture; computer, etc.
are provided, based on their requirements and availability of funds.
Department of Public
Enterprises has not issued guidelines related to facilities extended/provided
to the SC/ST Welfare Associations in PSUs. However, the PSUs involve SC/ST
Welfare Associations in their administrative and developmental activities/
management in various ways viz.(i) inviting the representatives of these
Associations in the meetings with Management/Trade Unions/ Officers’
Associations, (ii)consulting them in Selection Committees, Departmental
Promotion Committees, House allotment Committees, Canteen Committees, etc,
(iii) obtaining suggestions/inputs from them in administrative/developmental
activities, etc.
