Shri Subodh Kant Sahai takes charge as Minister of Food Processing Industries
Shri Subhodh Kant Sahai assumed office of the Minister of Food Processing Industries here today. Speaking to media persons after taking over, Shri Sahai said that food processing is one area which is directly linked to welfare of the farmers. He also emphasized the need of developing this area for providing more employment opportunities to farmers and unemployed youth.
The Minister was briefed by senior officials of the Ministry about the functioning of the department in preserving surplus agricultural products and preventing wastage. Shri J. Vasudevan, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries informed the Minister that the ministry has drafted a state specific plan for processing of fruits and vegetables.
