Sanjeev Rajput Won the 'Services Best Sportsman' 2009-10
Sanjeev Rajput, Master Chief Petty Officer – II of Indian Navy received the 'Services Best Sportsman' award for 2009-10 from the Chairman COSC Air Marshall PV Naik, on 13 Sep 2010 at New Delhi. Earlier, on 29 Aug 10, Rajput was also honoured by the Government of India with the Arjuna Award for shooting.
Sanjeev Rajput hailing from Jagadhiri, Haryana joined Indian Navy in 1999 as Direct Entry (Non Sports Quota) in the Gunnery Branch. During the training Sanjeev did exceptionally well with the small arms and got selected in Indian Naval Musketry team and built up his sports career. To date he has taken part in over 40 international events (10 Mtr Air Rifle and 50 Mtr Rifle prone) and won over 30 medals including 02 Gold and 01 Silver in the 8th Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championship 2010, Silver in 10 M Air Rifle in International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup, Sydney in Mar 2010.
“The Best Services Sportsman of the Year” is selected from amongst a large number of sportsmen of the three Services. This award comprises a trophy and cash award. This year the cash award has been enhanced from Rs 20,000 to Rs One Lakh.
