Reopening of Gold Mines at Kolar Gold Fields

The Minister of Mines and Development of North Eastern Region Shri B.K. Handique has said that the Mining lease of Chigargunta mines in Andhra Pradesh which was part of Bharat Gold Mines Ltd. (BGML) expired on 29-8-2008 and lease of this mine has since been granted by the State Govt. to Andhra Pradesh Minerals Development Corporation, a State Public Sector Enterprise.

 

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today he said, at the time of closure of BGML, the estimated minable reserves at Chigargunta Mines were as follows:-
